The Kagu - Iconic Flighless Bird of New Caledonia

Description: The Kagu is the sole surviving member of the family Rhynochetidae but is closely related to the Rails (family Rallidae) and confined to the main island of New Caledonia. This collection has two aims – a) a systematic description of the bird, and b) a study of its development as a national emblem on the definitives of New Caledonia.
